Current Covid Cases at WSA

Number of cases that have been transmitted or received from the school:

**This number reflects the number of cases that have been active at the school and may not include students who are online or were out of school during and before their time of quarantine.

WSA offers in-person 5 days per week

  • Five days per week in-person attendance

Will the school start and end times or calendar change for the 2021/2022 school year?

  • School times are 8:30-3:30 Monday-Thursday, and 8:30-1:00 on Friday. 
  • Breakfast will be served from 8:00-8:20 in classrooms. 
  • After school programing will resume this year!
  • The first day of school has been moved to August 16th for grades 1-8 and August 19th for kindergarten

What should I do if my child is sick?

Keep them at home. 

If they are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, they will need to see a doctor before returning to school.

Parents should also check their child's temperature before dropping them off at school. Children with fevers, won't be allowed into the building.  

What safety precautions is the school taking?

Temperature checks will be administered to any student demonstrating illness.

Breakfast will be served in classrooms.

High touch areas and classrooms will be sanitized regularly throughout the day and at night. 

Hand sanitizer stations are located inside every classroom. 

Anyone showing any of the Covid-19 symptoms will be sent home immediately. 

Students will not share supplies.

Classrooms desks will be spread out to provide a maximum amount of spacing between each student. 

Recesses will be scheduled so that students are not exposed to those outside of their grade level. 

A number system will be put into place for carpool. When parents pull up, they will display a family number and then the students will be dismissed from class to come to the curb for pick up. 

There will be no assemblies or gatherings of any kind until further notice.

ESSER III Funding Information

Wallace Stegner Academy will be using the ESSER III funds being awarded through the state in the following ways: 

20% of funds will be used to address learning losses through an afterschool plan that is one hour long Monday-Thursday and 30 minutes long on Friday.

80% of the funds will be used to reduce class sizes over the next two years to provide additional services per each student and to increase spacing in each classroom for the purposes of reducing spread of the virus.
